Guru's of Smt.Rajeswari

Smt. Jayalakshmi Arunachalam wife of Thiru  Arunachalam, renowned dance master in the dance field.

Jayalakshmi amma was well known in the Mylapore neighbourhood of Chennai. She hailed from a nattuvanar parampara and for her contribution to the art, was awarded the 'Kalaimamani' award by the state.

She and her husband taught generations of students. She was the dance teacher at Chellammal Vidyalaya and Lady Sivaswami Iyer Girls School, Mylapore, and had trained and organised group arangetrams for 20 years. I was blessed to learn from Jayalakshmi amma the Tanjore style of art for more than 17 years and also learnt  Nattuvangam from Jayalaksmi amma on gurukulam basis .

 Born on 16 December 1933, Adyar K. Lakshman hails from Kuppam in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh  Adyar Lakshman began his education at Kalakshetra in 1944 at the young age of 11 years. He underwent vigorous training in vocal music, Bharatha Natyam, Mridangam and Nattuvangam under the able tutelage of eminent teachers. He had the good fortune to receive his early training and exposure to the Classical arts from Smt. Rukmini Devi Arundale herself 

He received the Padma Shri award from the president of India in 1989, and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (Bharatnatyam) in 1991 by Sangeet Natak Akademi, India's National Academy of Music Dance & Drama.

Smt. Rajeswari had the blessings to learn  the kalashetra style from Thiru Adayar Lakshman  avl for a short period of time

Smt. Rajeswari, completed her bachelor's degree in English literature, Masters in Business Administration and Masters in Bharathanatyam . Diploma holder in carnatic music. she is in this dance teaching field for the past 28 years since 1995. But the Birth of Chidambaram Natyalaya is since 1998 bestowed by the spiritual master Sri Siva Shankar Baba..
